Members of Giles B. Cook Post 53, by extending a hand of friendship or assistance to those who live in the Warren County Virginia area, combined with assistance provided by thousands of other Posts nationwide, allow the nation’s largest veterans’ organization to have a positive and dramatic effect throughout the United States. 
. 

Post 53, a patriotic, mutual help, war-time veterans organization remains committed to our individual obligation to the community, state and nation by continuing to support appropriate local and national programs.

 

The following describes programs currently supported by Post 53:

 

  

 Sponsoring young men and women to American Legion Boys State and American Legion Auxiliary Girls State, a program designed to teach the duties and responsibilities of a franchised citizen.

 

Support of Front Royal midget football.

 

Junior Air Rifle Shooting Program.

 

Sponsorship of the American Legion Community Band. (www.alcband.org)

 

Support of High School Oratorical Contest.

 

Support to VA Hospital, Martinsburg, WVa.

 

Military Family Support Program.

 

Provide honors at Veterans funerals.

                                                                                                                  
Loan of medical equipment.
 

Provide temporary financial assistance to individuals and families in need.

Provide annual support to the Warren County Schools Indigent Childrens Fund.
